SURYA.co.id - A surfer couple, Jeremy (35) and Mine (33) was planning to go to Plengkung Beach, East Java. in a week, the couple who is from Queensland, Australia was looking for the sensational Plengkung after went to Ijen Crater and Baluran National Park.
International tourists are interested in it. How about you? Do not brag to people that you are a surfer if you never try to surf in this beach that faces the Indian Ocean.
Plengkung Beach is not only beautiful. The beach that is also called as G-Land is international surfers’ favorite beach. The 4-5 meters waves come one by one make the surfing become more extreme. This beach is also surrounded by forest, make it called ‘Tranquil Paradise’.
It is absolute, why Jeremy-Mine never gets bored to visit this place. They went to G -Land 4 years ago. They still curious and in the mid of March is the perfect time to ‘play’ with the waves there.
South Sea’s eaves will be higher from March to October, and the peak is during a full moon in the mid of the month.
“We want to feel the sensation of the famous rolling waves in G-Land. The waves are so high, and it could be longer than a half kilometer,” said Mine.
Jeremy also likes the sensation of doing adventure in the forest and looking at the animals. Four years ago, he had no chance to see the buffalos (Bos javanicus) in Sadengan Beach, Alas Purwo. This time, he wanted to try to see ago by repeating the same routine last time when he visited.
Specific Interest
It is a long-time story that Plengkung Beach becoming a favorite destination for travelers with the specific interest. When seeing the beach from satellite its curves make it looks like reversed G.
That kind of position makes the long waves and repetitive. The base of the G Land is sloped. The trench is also on the western side of this beach. This makes the surfing itself become more comfortable here but you still need to be careful. It is because there are some reefs underwater that could hurt you.
Every year, not less than 400-600 international tourists to surf in this white sands beach. In this place, they could stay for more than a week; moreover, months in the forest resorts.
Through the Forest
Plengkung Beach could be reached from both land or sea. From land, you could start from Banyuwangi with 3 hours trip to go to the entrance gate of Alas Purwo National Park that is located in Tegaldimo.
You will see a lot of teak trees along the road but after you arrive at next gate, Pancur, start from this gate, you will see tropical forest vegetation. Many endemic plants grow here, such as sawo kecik (Manilkara kauki) and bambu manggong (Gigantochloa manggong).
Along the road, you will also see other various plants, such as nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum), keben (Barringtonia asiatica), ketapang (Terminalia cattapa), kepuh (Sterculia foetida), and other kinds of bamboo.
To go through the forest, the visitors should use double-gardan cars or four-wheel drive owned by Alas Purwo National Park. those cars are ready to drive all the visitors through the muddy and unpaved roads from Pancur to Plengkung Beach. The admission is around RP 130.000 per car, back and forth.
In the gate of Plengkung Beach, the visitors should walk for 200 meters to the shore. In that spot, the visitors could see some resorts’ sign, such as Bobby’s Camp and Joyo’s Camp.
