“During winter in their origin, there are no foods. The competition in wildlife is so tight. Then, they come to Pamurbaya,” Iwan Londo Febrianto, a bird research volunteers.

According to Febrianto, Pamurbaya is not the last destination. These birds only stop by for a while to eat and fly again.

There are various birds that stop by in Pamurbaya. They are Whimbrel, Black-tailed godwit, Bar-tailed godwit, and Lesser sand plover.

Those birds fly from various countries in the northern part of the earth to reach Australia and New Zealand on September to April.

“It should be done during those months, but due to global warming, it changes to November until April,” he said,

The amount of migratory birds is also decreased. According to Febrianto, there were 3.000 birds in an area in the past, but it becomes 500-1.000 birds now.

One of the causes is the decreasing amount of wetlands that become residences.

So do not forget to come to the mangrove forest and see the migratory birds during November until April. Happy vacation.
