Savoring Chocolates Doesoen Kakao

There are many things that you can do in Doesoen Kakao other than eating and drinking any chocolate products. You can learn about the history and production of chocolate because this place is located in a cocoa farm. The width of the farm is 1.500 hectare.
Titon Tantular, organizer and manager of Kendeng Lembu farm, explained that the cocoa of this farm was exported to Japan, German, France, Italy, the US, Malaysia, and Singapore.
There is also self-production candy for the visitors.
“Doesoen Kakao is opened for public since 2016, but it has just established in November 2017 by state ministry of state-owned enterprises, Rini Soemarno,” he stated.
He explained that Glenmore has one of the best chocolate qualities in the world. It is Edel cocoa which has white seed. It is different with other chocolates which commonly has purplish seed.
Moreover, it is low fat and not easy to melt. The chocolate tends to taste sour. The aftertaste of the chocolate is the taste of honey.
Kendeng Lembu farm produces 800 kilograms cocoa per hectare each year. In total, the farm produces up to 950 tons of cocoa every year.
Visitors can take a rest and relax at Kafe Coklat to eat and drink chocolate products after walking around the cocoa farm.
The café was an old building of Dutch which was used as a cinder house or head of the farm.
Even though the building has been turned into a café, the architecture of the building remains the same.
There is illustration board which explains the history of chocolate in the world and in Indonesia.
“This farm exists since the Dutch era, there are many visitors which interested to come over, especially from Europe,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Banyuwangi, Abdullah Azwar Anas explained that Doesoen Kakao is very interesting for its cocoa farm other than selling chocolate products.
There is an educative history of chocolate tour in this place. Visitors are able to learn cocoa cultivation from plantation until production. Moreover, it is located in the south cross lane. If the south cross lane is opened, this place will be crowded,” he said.
