SURYA.co.id | SURABAYA - Surabaya Government is preparing various tourism events in 2018, such as Festival Kalimas, Mlaku-Mlaku Nang Tunjungan, and Festival Kembang Jepun.

The chief of Department of Tourism, Art and Culture, Widodo Suryantoro, have recorded 51 events and 45 activities to prepare. The events and the activities are prepared to boost the visitors of Surabaya. There are cultural, creativity, tourism promotion, art, UKM (Usaha Kecil Menengah) (small and middle business), and sports events.

Even though the concept is similar to previous year concept, but he assured that all of the events would be packed differently and more attractive,” he said on Monday (15/1/2018).

Widodo stated that in Festival Kalimas, there will be theater performance on a ship at Kalimas River. “The theme will be about the history of Kalimas River which split Surabaya,” he explained.

Moreover, “Mlaku-Mlaku Nang Tunjungan” event will be held for 6 times on 2018. There will be a culinary festival and Surabaya UKM product festival along Jalan Tunjungan.

At Jalan Kembang Jepun, the concept is similar to previous year concept. The concept is resurrecting Jalan Kembang Jepun which was the Chinese people market in Surabaya. “There will be a culinary festival and Surabaya UKM product festival at Jalan Kembang Jepun,” said Widodo.

The government hopes that the number of visitors will outpace on 2018 by the existence of these events and agendas.

“We have targeted that the visitor will reach 27.270.270 people in 2018. In 2017, our target was 19 million visitors. By the end of December 2017, the visitor reached around 24 million people,” he said.
