SURYA.co.id - Sumenep government plan to turn Giliyang Island into health tourism will be granted.  Research shows that Giliyang has high levels of oxygen. This island has best oxygen level in Asia.

The incredible oxygen level on this island has been tested through some experiments and researches each year. In 2006, Pusat Pemanfaatan Sains (LAPAN) researcher recorded the oxygen level in Pulau Giliyang reached 21%.

That number shows incredible oxygen level or above the average of the normal standard of an uncontaminated area.

LAPAN research result has been updated by Balai Besar Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan dan Pengendalian Penyakit (BBBTKLP) Surabaya. They did some surveys in some spots which have been tested by LAPAN on Thursday (2/5/2013).

9 researcher of BPTKLP Surabaya found the level of oxygen in that area at 11 AM. It shows 20,9% of oxygen level, it is higher than the standard. While the level of carbon dioxide reached 30,2% which mean lower than the standard, 38,7%.

The second measurement was done at 11.45 AM when the condition of the air was amazing. The oxygen level reached 21,5% while the carbon dioxide level decreased to 26,5%

The head of BBTKLP, Zainal Ilyas Nampira, revealed that Giliyang Island is the right place for health tourism for its high level of oxygen. This island has the best level oxygen in Indonesia and Asia. Sumenep Government needs to put their concern for this island.

“Local people and visitors have to conserve this island in order to keep the level of oxygen high such as keep this island from the boat machine’s fume,” explained Zainal Ilyas Nampira.

Zainal hasn’t figure out where the oxygen come from until now. He promised that he would do more research to figure out the origin of this island so that has high level of oxygen.

“The increasing of oxygen level could be affected by the wind blowing,” he said.
